HP has launched two new Chromebooks - x360 12b and x360 14b.

The Universal Stylus Initiative emerged in 2018 to help manufacturers come up with a standard for cross-device stylus support when developing stylus hardware, resulting in a "one stylus to rule the screens" philosophy.

As the name suggests, the new Chromebooks integrate a 360-degree hinge that allows users to switch between laptop mode, tablet mode, and tent display mode.

One thing that numerous best HP laptops and best Chromebooks have in common is the ability to flip over backwards into a tablet mode.

Google Introduces Its Play Pass Subscription Service
Unless you're one of those refuseniks still holding onto a Windows Phone, in which case the outlook is as barren as ever. No other purchases needed or no need to wait for ads to load, with the Play Pass , those ads will all be gone.

The Chromebook x360 14b will start at $379 (about £300, AU$550) while the 12b starts at $359 (about £290, AU$520), and both should be available this month in the US.

The smaller of the two Chromebooks, the new Chromebook 12b, features an Intel Celeron N4000 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 32GB of eMMC storage. The Chromebooks offer a slim design form, a metal and backlit keyboard deck, and a fan-less architecture. The HP Rechargeable USI Pen will be made available sometime in November. The model likewise packs B&O audio with dual speakers, a Wide Vision HD webcam with a dual array microphone, and a microSD card slot for expanding the device's onboard storage. While the x360 family already featured 14-inch and 11-inch models, the upcoming 12b model is going to be the first 12-inch variant of the series, and HP also adjusted the prices to match its competitors. This means that any USI-compatible stylus will work on the screen of the new HP Chromebooks. There's a built magnetic pen dock on the new Chromebooks for storing the stylus if required.

"With Intel Celeron Dual Core or Pentium Quad Core processors, integrated Intel UHD Graphics, up to 128GB of eMMC storage, almost 12 hours of battery life for the 12" offering, and up to 10 hours for the 14" offering, and a more efficient fan-less design, users will be doing homework, watching movies, or just surfing the web with the performance they need, when they need it. Both laptops offer Google Play support, and one year of free Google One subscription.
