Ipsos Poll: Warren Rises as Solid Dem Option Behind Biden, Sanders

New Poll: Sanders, Warren Surging While Biden, Harris Slip

New Poll: Sanders, Warren Surging While Biden, Harris Slip

Bernie Sanders rolled out his plan in SC, a critical early-voting state where the majority of the Democratic primary electorate is black.

How the candidates fare with a general-election audience could be critical, as Democrats are increasingly saying beating Trump is more important than whether a candidate shares their position on most issues. Elizabeth Warren than others in the Democratic field, including frontrunner Joe Biden, ahead of Thursday's debate, according to the latest PBS NewsHour, NPR and Marist poll.

Warren's primacy in the NPR poll, despite her second or third tier status in more common candidate preference polls, suggests that enthusiasm for her may be fractured among several other Democrats now running for the nomination.

The broader electorate isn't quite sold on either Biden or Warren.

There is potential for fireworks between Biden and Warren, who trails at 18 per cent but is the one candidate who has enjoyed a steady rise in support.

The din made by the Warren faithful even made Sanders, who is known to keep his eye on crowd sizes, repeatedly turned away from an interview with a local newspaper reporter to check on the performance by his friend and Democratic opponent.

As for the viability of her proposals, she said, "Well, I think that we start with a plan".

Warren, who is etching out a progressive message in comparison to Biden's moderate position, is rising.

Some said the best choice is the most pragmatic one: Support the candidate with the best chance of ousting Trump, even if that means passing on African American candidates or others who might do more to affect the fortunes of black Americans.

For U.S. Senator Kamala Harris of California and South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, the debate presents a narrowing set of chances to break through into the top tier. But now, those candidates are off the stage and Biden may have to make the centrist case himself.

Akhtar took to Twitter to write: "So disappointed with the 10 Sri Lankan players who have pulled out of Pakistan tour". The Sri Lankan team would be touring Pakistan for three ODIs and as many Twenty20s in September and October.

"There is more pressure on Bernie Thursday night than there is on Warren" he said.

Lawmakers returned to work this week after a summer recess marred by several mass shootings, including one in O'Rourke's home town of El Paso that left dozens of people dead, and most of the Democratic presidential hopefuls have demanded Congress take steps to address the violence. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) with 17 percent support.

For O'Rourke, it will be the first debate since a massacre in his hometown of El Paso prompted him to overhaul his campaign into a forceful call for sweeping gun restrictions, complete with regular use of the F-word in cable television interviews.

Biden "is banking on that fear of her being unelectable", Fallon said, pointing out that Warren is "making headway".

"I think the fact that she has specificity in her plans gives her a push. I kind of see him as a grumpy old man".

Polls show most voters think that is Biden, the former vice president. With a long race to the White House that likely includes confronting Trump, Miringoff said "going after fellow Democrats and damaging them may not be the best route to go".

"Fall in love with many and then when we get the nominee, go speed dating", said Tom Perez, the chair of the Democratic National Committee. "In order to win we are at our best when we are united", Perez continued. And she joined Sanders and Biden in a commitment to reining in prosecutorial overreach: Warren would create a dedicated Commission on Prosecutorial Conduct, among other changes. Some fights that were predicted in previous debates failed to materialize with candidates like Sanders and Warren in July joining forces to take on their rivals.

During her speech, Warren said primary voters should support who they believe in, not who is the most likely victor. "But we can't choose a candidate we don't believe in because we're scared. And we can not ask other people to vote for someone we don't believe in", she said.

Then there's Bernie Sanders, the democratic socialist standing to Biden's right. "I have great respect for her", Biden said recently as he campaigned in SC.
