It appeared that the differences had been resolved.

Former player Albert Celades, coach of Spain's Under-21 squad until previous year, is expected to replace Marcelino.

Former Barcelona midfielder Celades, 43, joins until June 2021 and took his first training session on Wednesday. However, after taking four points from their opening three games, they have taken the decision to replace Marcelino.

Former Spain U21 coach Celades, who was also assistant to Julen Lopetegui at Real Madrid, is stepping into his first senior role in the dugout.

Valencia travel to Camp Nou on Saturday to face Barcelona in LaLiga before embarking on their 2019/20 Champions League campaign as they play Chelsea in London next Tuesday.
