The Sitch has been locked up in federal prison since January for tax evasion, and will finally regain his freedom Thursday.

In a statement to Entertainment Tonight, Sorrentino and his wife Lauren said they are elated to close this chapter of their life.

The Sorrentino brothers were indicted originally for tax offenses in September 2014 but had received additional charges in April 2017.

"We truly believe that the comeback is ALWAYS greater than the setback and we can't wait to show the world ours", they added.

Sorrentino pleaded guilty to one count of tax evasion in January 2018 for not fully paying the amount of taxes he owed for 2011.

In 2014, US prosecutors accused Sorrentino and his brother Marc Sorrentino, who was sentenced to 24 months, of hiding millions of dollars the reality TV star earned on Jersey Shore between 2010 and 2012.

Sorrentino, 37, surrendered in January to the Otisville Correctional Facility in NY after he was sentenced to tax offenses related to almost $9 million in income.

The MTV personality is also required to complete 500 hours of community service and was given $123,913 in restitution, plus a fine of $10,000, which has been paid.

Sam Ficken Expected To Sign With New York Jets
Ficken now becomes the fourth kicker the Jets have had since the departure of 2018 Pro Bowler Jason Myers. Chandler Catanzaro struggled in August before abruptly retiring and Taylor Bertolet wasn't much better.

Now that he's out of prison, The Situation is back on social media.

The reality TV star, who lives in Long Branch, announced his release from the prison by sharing a GIF of Dave Chappelle raising his hands up and saying "FREE!". Speaking to PEOPLE Now in July, the Jersey Shore: Family Vacation cast said their friend's only concern in prison was his wife.

"He's doing better than me".

"He was so calm, so relaxed", said DelVecchio, who said the prison was a "very informal, low-security type place". "He eats what he wants!" I hope he keeps it that way.

'We all talk to him through an email, so I talk to him like once a week.

Castmate Vinny Guadagnino said Sorrentino was doing even better than really well.

Something tells us there will be a welcome home party held for Sorrentino in the very near future!

"Damn we all missed you", replied "Jersey Shore" creator SallyAnn Salsano, head of 495 Productions, which produces "Jersey Shore Family Vacation".
