Manchester United's Darmian joins Parma on four-year deal

Manchester United have offloaded Matteo Darmian, who has signed a long-term contract with Parma.

Italy global Darmian returns to his homeland after agreeing a four-year deal with Roberto D'Aversa's side.

However, after playing 18 Premier League matches in the following campaign, he failed to hit double figures again at United, featuring just six times last season.

Darmian arrived from Torino in 2015 for a reported £12.9million and went on to make 92 appearances for the Red Devils.

Darmian scored once for United during his spell at Old Trafford, a brilliant volley against Crystal Palace during their 2-0 victory back in 2016.

Conte says he aims to form Italy’s government by mid-week
Mr Conte was tasked with forming a new coalition after the collapse of Italy's populist coalition last month. The deal between the 5-Star and the PD would see Conte keep his position as the leader of a new cabinet.

"Everyone at Manchester United would like to thank Matteo for his service and wish him all the best for the future".

He helped earn the club promotion to Serie A in his first season in Turin and was a regular in the side as they established themselves back in the top flight.

Darmian played 92 matches for United in total, scoring one goal, and has made 36 global appearances.

He is the fourth player to leave the club for Italy in recent weeks, after Lukaku and Sanchez joined Inter Milan, and Smalling moved to AS Roma.
