Win or lose, Jayapal says it's time to impeach Trump

Members of the liberal Congressional Progressive Caucus voted on Tuesday to endorse the House Judiciary Committee's impeachment investigation against President Donald Trump, saying it was "impossible" to ignore the "mounting evidence" against him.

House Democrats plan to define the parameters of their investigation into whether to impeach President Donald Trump in a Thursday vote, according to House Judiciary Committee Chair Rep.

Judiciary Democrats say a full House vote to establish an impeachment inquiry is not needed and won't happen, but Republicans argue the investigation can not be defined as impeachment proceedings without one.

"There's no question the committee is engaged in an investigation to determine whether to recommend articles of impeachment and these procedures are to guide that", another aide said.

The House Judiciary Committee is demanding detailed documents from the White House and Trump's private companies that could bolster an already overwhelmingly strong case for impeachment.

Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA), the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, also slammed Democrats only hours earlier for continuing an impeachment push in order to score political points.

What's complicated matters are the fights in the court: Namely the Democratic efforts to force former White House counsel Don McGahn to testify about allegations that Trump tried to thwart special counsel Robert Mueller's probe. The Committee subpoenaed Rob Porter and Rick Dearborn, who also witnessed President Trump's repeated obstruction, for the same hearing.

The group also noted on Twitter that during Congress's August recess, grassroots demonstrators helped gain the support of more than a dozen Democrats who joined the majority of their colleagues in the House in backing impeachment proceedings against Trump.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., slammed Republicans after she revealed she owes almost $20,000 in student loans at a House Financial Services Committee hearing on college debt Tuesday, according to a report.

Additionally, it would permit evidence to be received in a closed executive session. If they do not take action to impeach Trump, their professed belief that he has overreached his authority, along with their persistent antagonism of the president during his almost three years in office, would appear to lack substance.

"I don't", Gabbard said bluntly. The Committee has also requested information relating to the President's solicitation of foreign and USA government business at his private properties-specifically the selection of his Doral resort for the next G7 Summit-in violation of the Constitution.

[There was no] House resolution authorizing this Committee to consider whether or not Justice William O. Douglas had committed any impeachable offenses.

But Judiciary Democrats offered mixed signals about how much - if at all - the resolution will shape their investigation. If he can not respect the Constitution, we'll have to deal with that. Though it sounds inconsequential, including the smaller, nimbler subcommittees in the inquiry would allow Democrats to speed up their work or steer less significant witnesses to the smaller panels.

"In the past few weeks, we've seen more and more representatives publicly come out in favor of impeachment".

"We are already in the midst of an impeachment investigation", she said.
