Carlsberg has been working on the model since 2015 with tech firm ecoXpac and researchers at Danish Technical University, and it produced the test bottles with help from packaging company BillerudKorsnäs.

Carlsberg Group has made progress on their journey to create the world's first paper beer bottle made completely from sustainably sourced wood fibres that are 100% bio-based and fully recyclable.

Carlsberg has also been joined by The Coca-Cola Company, The Absolut Company and L'Oreal in a "paper bottle community" - a joint venture called Paboco. Nestle SA has unveiled paper wrapping for Yes fruit and nut bars, while Unilever pledged earlier this week to halve its use of newly made plastic by 2025. Each has an inner barrier to allow the bottles to contain beer.

Support for Trump impeachment rises, new poll shows
Overall in primetime, Fox News easily won with 4.30 million viewers to MSNBC's 2.77 million and CNN's 1.23 million. The poll also showed an increase in support for impeachment across a number of demographics compared with July.

"Although we've not yet reached our goal, the two prototypes are a significant step on the way to achieving our ultimate ambition, which is to bring this groundbreaking technology onto the market", deputy director of Group Development at Carlsberg, Myriam Shingleton, said via the press statement.

Snap-Pack follow up One of the prototypes implements a thin recycled PET polymer film barrier, while the other is made from a 100 percent bio-based PEF polymer film barrier.

The Danish brewery has set a target of being carbon neutral in breweries and reducing its value-chain carbon footprint by 30 percent by 2030. We're delighted that other like-minded companies have now joined us as part of Paboco's paper bottle community. "Partnerships such as these, ones that are united by a desire to create sustainable innovations, are the best way to bring about real change". Carlsberg's focus on innovation is not new. It will be made of wood fibers using a sustainable extraction method created on a 100% organic basis and fully recyclable. Last year, Carlsberg invested in a number of other sustainable solutions, including recycled shrink film, greener label ink and Snap Pack, which replaces the plastic packaging around its six-pack cans.
