When Ed Stack, CEO of the Dick's Sporting Goods chain, found out his company sold a gun to the Parkland, Florida, school shooter, he decided he was done being in business of selling assault rifles and high-capacity magazines, he said on CBS Sunday Morning.

"All this about, you know, how we were anti-Second Amendment, you know, 'we don't believe in the Constitution, ' and none of that could be further from the truth", he said in the interview.

Elaborating on why he eliminated the weapons that he elected not to sell, Stack added: "I said, 'You know what?"

America's close ties with the right to bear arms has proven a hot topic for citizens and corporate entities alike.

When asked how much he estimated he'd lose following the decision to stop selling to people under 21, Stack said "a quarter billion dollars", or $250 million.

Since the massacre in Parkland, corporations have responded to the public's growing demand for gun control measures.

That decision came just weeks after the mass shooting in Dayton, Ohio, during which 10 people were killed and 27 others were injured. Dick's, though, has been one of the most proactive.

Stack's new book, "It's How We Play The Game: Build a Business". "It's just, it's ridiculous". "But if we do these things and it saves one life, don't you think it's worth it?'"

After finding out that Dick's had sold the Parkland shooter a shotgun, CEO Edward Stack decided previous year the company would no longer sell assault rifles or firearms to anyone under 21. Stack said that after the 2012 Sandy Hook shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, he made the decision to remove the AR-15 off store shelves. "Take a Stand. Make a Difference".

"We probably get a little bit of a backlash, but we didn't expect to get what we got", he said.

"We've got the whole category under strategic review", Stack said in the CBS interview. Other companies, such as CVS, Kroger and Walgreens joined Walmart in asking customers to bring guns into their store. Walmart announced last month that it would reduce its gun and ammunition sales.
