'E.T.' & 'Haunting of Hill House' Actor Henry Thomas Arrested for DUI

Thomas is best known as the adorable child actor who portrayed the young protagonist in Steven Spielberg's critically acclaimed movie 'E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial'. The Extra Terrestrial - was arrested on suspicion of DUI on Monday.

The Tualatin Police Department in OR confirmed to Fox News that Thomas, 48, was arrested on Monday after officers received a 911 call about a suspicious vehicle parked in a lane for travel. When officers arrived on the scene, they found Thomas passed out in the driver's seat and had to rouse him.

Police did not reveal what substance Thomas had in his system at the time of his arrest, but it is known that he received a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants, or DUII, which is Oregon's chosen term comparable to other states' charge of "driving under the influence" (DUI) or "driving while intoxicated" (DWI).

Jennifer Massey, public information officer for the Tualatin Police Department, told CNN that a concerned passerby called police about a suspicious looking vehicle that was stopped in a lane of travel. In 2018, he returned to San Anto with several of his E.T. co-stars for Alamo City Comic Con, and also appeared at this year's San Antonio Book Festival to promote his new fantasy novel. According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, Thomas was admitted to the Washington County Jail at 1:48 a.m. and released at 9:37 a.m. Tuesday.

He has also appeared in Gangs of NY and Legends of the Fall.

In a 2012 interview with Radar Online timed with the 30th anniversary of E.T., Thomas talked about avoiding the pitfalls of child stardom. They didn't want to move.
