"We come in Nashville and I fell down and hit my forehead on a sharp edge and I had to go to the hospital, and they took 14 stitches in my forehead and my eyes black as your nose", he said, and then added, "But I had a number one priority and that was to come to Nashville to build houses". A spokeswoman for Carter said the former president fell at his home but "feels fine".

Arriving at the Habitat for Humanity event in Nashville Sunday night, Carter already sported a black eye, as well as a puffy face and discoloration on his cheeks.

Carter fell at home on Sunday, requiring over a dozen stitches, but he did not let his injuries keep him from participating in his 36th building project with the nonprofit Christian housing organization.

Three STDs reach record high in US
About 35,000 cases of the most contagious forms of the disease were reported - also the most since 1991. The increases coincided with public health funding cuts and clinic closures.

Brooks, who was born in Tulsa and grew up in Yukon, and Yearwood, a former Owasso resident, have volunteered with Habitat for Humanity for more than a decade. "My cap? The Braves just beat the Cardinals 3 to 1", said Carter, who is the oldest living former U.S. president.

The project the Carters were supporting is expected to build 21 homes in a Nashville neighborhood. He just surpassed the late former President George H.W. Bush, who died in late November at the age of 94, as the oldest living former president. He's had some trouble walking after a hip replacement in May, but regularly teaches Sunday School.

Carter also has accepted visits from several 2020 presidential candidates, but has held back on endorsing any of his fellow Democrats, offering only clues to his thinking.
