Kane says Spurs win is 'massive statement' after tough spell

In normal circumstances, suffering a 2-1 defeat to Spurs would not be the most dishonourable of outcomes but with the numerical advantage, this will feel like a missed opportunity for most supporters.

Having taken an early lead through Tanguy Ndombele's fierce strike, the hosts were reduced to 10 men after Serge Aurier picked up two yellow cards in four minutes.

The North London side reached the UEFA Champions League final past year but the start of 2019/20 season has been below par for them.

'I think it was a massive win, and a massive statement to the fans and the club for the players to show how much they want to fight for this club, ' said the English captain.

"We were going through a tough spell, but that is all you can do - dig deep and find ways to win". I know the crowd would have enjoyed that win.

"It wasn't our prettiest win at home, but it shows how much we all care about the club".

Mauricio Pochettino's side are fourth in the Premier League table at the moment with 11 points from seven matches.

Chelsea striker Abraham set to commit to England
The Blues striker has netted seven goals in the Premier League this season, which makes him the highest scoring Englishman in the top flight.

Kane dismissed a question relating to that comment, and said that it lay behind the team, as they concentrate on the future.

The Frenchman redeemed himself with a string of fine second-half saves to help his side to much-needed victory, but his occasional errors remain worrying.

"That is in the past".

"Of course this situation can happen, but I think the team showed unbelievable spirit after that".

"I was really upset with myself", he said.

A battling victory with 10 men certainly ticks the team spirit box, which left Pochettino smiling.

After the game with Bayern Spurs head into the worldwide break with a Premier League clash against Brighton.
