The move will see Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida leave his current role to lead a new initiative that will look after smaller independent studios.

Since 2008, Shuhei Yoshida has been the President of SCE Worldwide Studios.

In an official release, Sony announced that this is effective immediately.

PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan could be interested in expanding Sony's line-up of first-party studios, but not with out exercising a bit of caution. "I have no doubt Hermen can lead our teams to deliver compelling and diverse experiences at a steady cadence". "Worldwide Studios is a critical part of the future success of the company, and we must deliver on the promise we have made to gamers to create imaginative and exciting content that is truly unique to PlayStation".

"I am thrilled to announce Shu Yoshida as head of this new initiative".

Hong Kong malls hit by protests, as clashes leave injuries
Still, the idea that Hong Kong's protests are foreign-funded and not a popular revolt permeates the blue ribbon camp. However, the statement from Hong Kong Secretary Matthew revealed that "The reverse is true".

While Hulst steps into Sony leadership, three of his colleagues (Angie Smets, Jan-Bart van Beek and Michiel van der Leeuw) will take over as joint studio heads at Guerrilla.

Meanwhile, the new head of Worldwide Studios Herman Hulst will be charged with overseeing the creative and strategic direction of the 14 studios that Sony owns, including Naughty Dog, Media Molecule and Insomniac. This role will have Shu working directly with independent developers to give them the tools and platforms they need to bring titles to the PlayStation family of devices. Under Hulst's leadership, according to Sony, Guerrilla has continued to innovate and developed Decima, a proprietary game engine that among other things is used in the production of games like Kojima Productions' upcoming Death Stranding. The executive said he is beyond excited to have the opportunity to lead an inspired and talented team whose singular mission is to build awesome games for PlayStation fans.

Ryan said everyone knows how passionate Yoshida is about independent games.

PlayStation is going through a reorganization ahead of the launch of the PS5.
