Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker drives past Philadelphia 76ers guard Ben Simmons during the second half of an NBA basketball game Monday Nov. 4 2019 in Phoenix. The Suns defeated the 76ers 114-109

Philadelphia 76ers All-Star Ben Simmons says the Sixers' loss to the Phoenix Suns on Monday was "a good wake up for us".

"I've said it for a while, " he said.

Devin Booker led the charge with 40 points, while Ricky Rubio added 21 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds. At 213 years, five days, he became the eighth-youngest player in league history to reach 6,000 points. Joel Embiid served the second game of his suspension after his fight with Minnesota's Karl Anthony Towns.

Booker had a hot hand sinking 15 of 19 field goal attempts for 40 points. "Devin's competitive, not afraid of the moment".

In a bruising matchup against his former Boston Celtics teammate Aron Baynes, Horford was the 76ers best option on offence, spacing the floor with his three-point shooting, knocking down mid-range jumpers for fun and finishing at the rim, getting buckets every which way. Horford shot 13-of-20 from the field.

From that point, it was back and forth until the Suns went up in the final few minutes when Booker and Kelly Oubre Jr. made big baskets to put them in front for good.

Al Horford led the 76ers with 32 points, while Tobias Harris added 24 points and 10 rebounds. He's just a really good basketball player, he's giving them a lot of coverage. "They were able to make shots".

Horford nailed a 27-foot 3 at the buzzer to put the 76ers ahead 61-55 at halftime.

While it now is beginning to seem like Simmons is attempting to go his entire career without ever making a 3, one can not help but think that at some point he will eventually add the outside shot to his repertoire making himself an even more well-rounded player - and even more valuable.

Phoenix won its fifth game, which is already more than 25 percent of the way to its win total of 19 last season.

The Suns haven't made the playoffs in a decade and have been particularly bad over the past four years, with an 87-241 record and no more than 24 wins in any of those seasons.

Ben Simmons and Josh Richardson struggled to make their impact on the game as Rubio and Booker ran the show for Phoenix.

Suns: G Ty Jerome missed his seventh straight game to start his rookie season because of a right ankle sprain.

The Suns held the Sixers to 47.2 percent shooting. This is the Suns' third consecutive victory.

In addition to Antetokounmpo's impressive performance, Khris Middleton scored 26 points and Eric Bledsoe produced 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds to help their team win.

Damian Lillard, an Oakland native playing his first game in San Francisco, paced the Trail Blazers with 39 points, including five 3-pointers.

76ers: At the Utah Jazz on Wednesday.

A day after a 29-point loss at the Miami Heat, the Houston Rockets bounced back to defeat the Memphis Grizzlies 107-100.
