Liquidation sales will kick off at these units beginning on December 2.

A total of 96 more store closings were announced by the parent company of Sears and Kmart on Thursday.

Nine of those stores are in New England.

In February 2019, the majority of Sears Holding Corp. was purchased by Transformco, which has "faced a difficult retail environment and other challenges" since then, but is "working hard to position Transformco for success by focusing on our competitive strengths and pruning operations that have struggled due to increased competition and other factors".

Kmart used to be a go-to store for shoppers - now some of the last of the stores are closing here in the metro Detroit area. The company plans to continue to evaluate the store footprint.

Authorities released images of Yazeed showing him inside the Auburn convenience store at the time Blanchard was last seen there. Investigators believe Yazeed was "involved in taking Aniah against her will".

All of the stores affected by this round of closures will be shuttered by February.

It was just announced the Kmart in Waterford will be closing its doors.

Owner Transformco has secured $250 million in new capital as it battles to bring the veteran big-box chain and its sibling, Kmart, back from the brink. Since then, Transformco has faced a hard retail environment, along with other challenges, the company said in a press release Thursday.

These assets include logistics solutions firm Innovel, Sears Home Services, the Shop Your Way membership program, and its Kenmore and DieHard brands. "These businesses will also benefit from the recent acquisition by an affiliate of Transformco of Sears Hometown - a network of more than 400 independently-owned and operated, dealer-managed smaller-format stores that are known for offering customers a range of home products, including appliances, lawn & garden, tools and sporting goods", Transformco officials said in a statement.
