Listen to George Michael's new posthumous single

George Michael

Michael made a rough recording of the tune sometime in early 2012, and it was later recorded again at London's Air Studios in 2015.

Although Jackman does not believe that the album will ever see the light of day, "This Is How (We Want You To Get High)" will appear on the soundtrack to the upcoming film "Last Christmas".

The previously unreleased track, which was recorded during George's final studio sessions, is his first original material to be shared for seven years.

"'Last Christmas" is not my favorite song", Thompson admitted of the track that served as the inspiration for the film's plot about a troubled woman (Clarke) whose life changes after a dashing stranger (Golding) enters her life just before the holidays.

The song features acoustic guitars and an upbeat vibe.

And as far as we're concerned, the more George Michael, the better.

George Michael fans of the world, rejoice: a new song has been released.

When the Kansas City Chiefs arrive in town on Sunday, they'll bring more than one of the league's most high-powered offenses. He continued: "He obviously wants to play, I mean that's him, he's wanted to do that since 20 minutes after it happened".

'I'm honoured to be premiering this previously unheard song from George on my Breakfast Show'.

In addition to the new track, Last Christmas will include several more of Michael's classics, like "Faith", "Fastlove Part1", and "Freedom!"

Last Christmas is out in cinemas across Australia on November 7.

Thompson first met with Michael in 2013 to talk about her ideas for the screenplay.

"He was just the loveliest guy you could imagine", she recalled.

'[He loved] all of these themes in the movie; he was passionate about homelessness, and he had this great social conscience. The actress and screenwriter then developed various versions of the script before George's sudden passing on Christmas Day 2016.

Thompson said watching the film is "like being hugged" as she wished her friend was still around to enjoy it. "So we lost him, and I miss him so much". That said, if you want poignancy, This Is How (We Want You to Get High) has plenty of it, albeit by default rather than design. "I guess we always knew it would be"'.
