A statement issued by the show said the 73-year-old Sajak is resting comfortably after the successful surgery.

"I'm so grateful for all the good wishes during my recent illness", he wrote on Twitter.

Long-time "Wheel of Fortune" host Pat Sajak is recovering after emergency surgery on Thursday to fix a blocked intestine, CBS News reports.

Bolivian president wasn't forced out by coup
A State Department official rejected accusations that the Bolivian military staged a coup, calling it a "false narrative". Argentina President-elect Alberto Fernández joined that analysis.

The final line is a joke referencing White taking over hosting duties when Sajak was treated for his medical emergency, which was shared on Friday as part of Wheel of Fortune's announcement. So, while Vanna White hosts, she will be joined by none other than Mickey Mouse, who's stepping into White's letter-turning role. Sajak had to have emergency surgery, and his longtime sidekick Vanna White is filling in as host while he recovers. Taping of the popular game show was paused on Thursday, and resumed Friday with co-host Vanna White at the helm, for shows that will start airing December 9.

Opening up to PEOPLE last month about their "brotherly and sisterly chemistry", White revealed that in the 37 years they've been on air together, she and Sajak have never had a single fight in real life, except once about whether to put ketchup on a hot dog. Hosting a game show can be rough, but Wheel of Fortune benefits from having two stars instead of one.
