Shane Sutton, the former head coach of British Cycling and Team Sky, has refused to return to Dr Richard Freeman's medical tribunal despite efforts to persuade him to change his mind after he stormed out on Tuesday.

Freeman, who was British Cycling and Team Sky's doctor from 2009 until he resigned in 2017, is facing a charge of medical misconduct from Britain's General Medical Council over the 2011 incident.

Freeman's legal team has claimed that the Testogel was for Sutton, who allegedly bullied Freeman into ordering the drug for personal use to treat erectile dysfunction.

Sutton, Freeman and Peters were all part of the senior management at British Cycling and Team Sky but the success and processes of the teams has come under scrutiny after it emerged the batch of Testogel testosterone sachets was sent to the Manchester velodrome in May 2011 where both British Cycling and Team Sky were based. He had been due to spend the whole of Thursday giving further evidence.

"Our case about Mr Sutton is that he's a habitual and serial liar", O'Rourke said according to reports in The Guardian and other media, while justifying why she feels she needs to cross-examine Sutton in person. "It wasn't for me and I never ordered it". Sutton pointed out that he had never tested positive in more than 100 tests during his professional career.

"You're telling me I are not able to get a hard on in the push".

Turning to Freeman, who has spent the hearing screened off from the public gallery for health reasons, Sutton added: "The person lying to you is behind the screen".

"He's a good bloke, good friend, I've no argument with him".

The transcript is one of a number released ahead of the first public hearings of the impeachment inquiry into President Trump. At issue is Trump's decision to tie military aid for Ukraine to investigations of Joe Biden and the Democrats.

"I'm happy with what I achieved in my career". I covered his backside while he was there.

"I haven't lied. He's hiding behind a screen, which is spineless".

Only three questions in, Sutton became impatient, stating his former career as a rider was "irrelevant", as were other questions about his level of knowledge of doping practices in cycling history. I just think you are totally out of order.

Sutton added there was "nothing sinister" in him telling the General Medical Council's legal team that he and former British Cycling chief Sir Dave Brailsford were anxious about being involved in this case and it was only because "the buck stops with you" as the head of an organisation.

Earlier on Tuesday, the tribunal ruled the general topic of erectile dysfunction could be the subject of questions to Sutton in public.

If Sutton chooses not to return to the hearing on Thursday, Miss O'Rourke is hoping to call former British Cycling head of medicine Dr Steve Peters for cross-examination.

However, Sutton did not reply when O'Rourke accused him of sending Freeman "some pretty hostile texts", before reading one out: "Be careful what you say", it read.
