At AWS re:Invent, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced several new projects including five new artificial intelligence (AI) services created to put machine learning in the hands of more application developers and end users - with no machine learning experience required, and three key initiatives as a part of the company's plans to help advance quantum computing technologies. Only do those who've been into IT for quite some time, would probably be knowing about this. Google and IBM have been trying to outdo each other for years in this research domain. Quantum Computing is one of the hardest fields in computing to be ever touched.

"It's not clear who will win the quantum hardware wars, so it's good for enterprises that, for example, AWS is Switzerland, so to speak", observed Holger Mueller, principal analyst at Constellation Research. Like Microsoft's Quantum Lab in Sydney, the idea is to accelerate research and technological development.

By using AWS analytics services, including Amazon Kinesis, and machine learning services such as Amazon SageMaker to enhance live video streams and enable a real-time data functionalities, Fox will deliver new and innovative products and services in addition to providing enhanced user experiences and improved operations.

Jeff Barr, Chief Evangelist for AWS said that while quantum computing isn't mainstream today it will be over time.

Nepal's Gadhimai Fest is The World's Largest Animal Sacrifice Ritual
Thousands of goats were also bound for sacrifice - mostly by having their throats slit - as well as pigs and even some rats. In August 2016, Nepal's Supreme Court directed the government to stop animal sacrifices at the Gadhimai temple fair.

The Amazon Braket service will allow developers, researchers and scientists to experiment with quantum computers from providers like D-Wave, IonQ and Rigetti.

AWS says that the security and data processing attached to the recordings meet strict USA medical industry standards, but it has yet to comment on whether it might meet Europe's tougher GDPR data processing safeguards.

However, AWS is not installing these quantum computers in its own data centers and instead of offering a unified way to access the machines. And the latter one is for connecting the AWS customers with Amazon's Quantum Computing experts for developing their businesses.

The AWS Centre for Quantum Computing will bring together researchers and engineers from Amazon with leading academic institutions in quantum computing, to develop more powerful quantum computing hardware and identify novel quantum applications with the goal of boosting innovation in science and industry.
