According to Roberts' under-oath statement, she claimed she was forced to sleep with Prince Andrew on three occasions.

An interview with Ms Giuffre is to be broadcast on "Panorama" on the BBC on Monday.

Prince Andrew admitted that he stayed in Epstein's mansions, private islands, but categorically denied allegations that he had sexual intercourse with one of Epstein's sex-slaves, Virginia Giuffre, who claimed she was forced to have sex with the royal when she was 17.

However he added it would be "a sad day if we had to part ways because then there will be a lot of women who would lose their cover because we would no longer be able to provide them that support".

Prince Andrew has denied that he did anything wrong and promised to help U.S. law enforcement with their investigation.

During the interview, which was branded a "disaster", he said an alleged encounter with Ms Giuffre couldn't have happened because he had taken his daughter Beatrice to Pizza Express in Woking at the time.

Last week Prince Andrew was removed from public life, resigning from his royal duties after a widely criticised 'car-crash' interview with BBC Newsnight about his relationship with the convicted sex-offender Jeffery Epstein.

The Prince of Wales is said to have long planned to make the monarchy well-run and cost effective when he becomes King, but after a recent scandal involving Prince Andrew, the Queen's second son and reportedly her favourite, Charles, who is first in line to the throne reportedly jump started his plans on reforming Britain's monarchy, royal experts told the newspaper.

"Everyone is on tenterhooks especially after the backlash to the Duke's "Newsnight" interview - no one saw the fall-out from that coming, especially the Duke", the source said.

The Met reviewed that decision in August after Epstein took his own life in USA custody while he was awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

During the programme, BBC reporter Darragh MacIntyre will also look at another of the prince's friends, Ghislaine Maxwell, investigating her alleged links to the Epstein scandal.

In a statement on Thursday, commander for specialist crime Alex Murray confirmed the Met received an "allegation of non-recent trafficking for sexual exploitation" against Epstein and a British woman relating to "events outside of the United Kingdom and an allegation of trafficking to central London in March 2001".

"It related to events outside of the United Kingdom and an allegation of trafficking to central London in March 2001".

"In August 2019, following the death of Jeffrey Epstein, the MPS reviewed the decision making and our position remains unchanged".
