World leaders caught on tape, apparently mocking US President Donald Trump

He called Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau "two-faced", scrubbed a scheduled press conference and headed for the airport.

New York Magazine contributor Yashar Ali, along with other news outlets, also pointed out a fifth person who appears to be Princess Anne, daughter of Queen Elizabeth II.

US President Donald Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau look on during their meeting at the White House in Washington, DC, on October 11, 2017.

Mr Trudeau intervenes, and said "he was late because he takes a 40-minute press conference off the top" - seemingly a referendum to the Macron-Trump meeting earlier in the day.

After some discussion with an aide, Trudeau answered: "1.4".

None of them appeared to realise they were being recorded.

Trump eschewed a press conference after footage emerged of foreign leaders mocking the USA president at an after-dinner. Johnson faces an election on December 12, and with Trump deeply unpopular in Britain, too much face time between the two populists could be politically toxic.

Trump exasperated divisions by only meeting North Atlantic Treaty Organisation leaders who are paying 2 percent of their GDP for their defence spending. A lot more money is being produced by a lot of countries and they are enthusiastic about it.

"I'm representing the U.S. And he should be paying more than he's paying. I can imagine he's not that happy but that's the way it is".

Johnson, meanwhile, professed ignorance when asked by reporters about the conversation.

"I really don't know what is being referred to there".

"You just watched his team's jaws drop to the floor", Trudeau added later in response to inaudible comments from Macron.

What did the leaders' joint statement say?

UW coach Chris Petersen stepping down after bowl game
He will coach in the bowl game for the Huskies. "He overachieved as a player (at EWU) and he's done the same thing as a coach". Athletics director Jen Cohen immediately appointed defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake to the permanent position as head coach.

Meeting outside London to mark the 70th year of the Atlantic alliance, the members vowed to stick together against threats from Russian Federation and terrorism and recognised the challenge of a rising China.

Neither should the fact that Trump's traditional antics were again on display: grabbing center stage, doing battle with allies he ostensibly disrespects, taking the opportunity to defend himself on domestic issues and ensuring that his own ego takes precedence over USA national interests.

Mr. Trump then turned and asked Mr. Trudeau - in front of a bank of television cameras - what Canada's current level of defense spending is.

Nations committed to spending at least two per cent of their budgets on defence and said more than US$130 billion more is being invested.

Germany, a frequent target of Mr Trump's blandishments, has promised to spend 2 per cent of national output by 2031.

How sharp were the exchanges?

Trump's one-on-one meeting with Macron was remarkably tense as the French President refused to back down from remarks that Trump called "nasty" and "insulting".

"We will continue to have an excellent relationship".

Yet others praised the prime minister for what they saw as his speaking the truth about Trump, who is deeply unpopular in many quarters.

It's expected the leaders, who earlier Wednesday morning gathered for the annual family photo, will talk about everything from the fight against terrorism, to relationships with Russian Federation and the rise of China.

What's the background to the tensions?

"China is now the second-largest defence spender in the world next to the United States and they recently displayed new modern capabilities including nuclear weapons so we have to address the rise of China together", Stoltenberg told reporters ahead of the meeting.
