Reliance Jio announces new All-In-One tariff plans

As expected, telecom operator Vodafone Idea has hiked its prepaid plan prices.

Vodafone Idea on Sunday said its new plans for its prepaid products and services would be available across India, starting 00:00 hours of December 3, 2019. These tariffs will be applicable from Tuesday, December 3, 2019.

Similarly, Rs 299 plan provides prepaid customers with 2GB data per day.

VIL, which posted its highest-ever net loss for a corporate in the country, hiked mobile tariffs by an average 20-30 per cent for its pre-paid services.

Highest rate increase of 41.14 per cent has been announced by the company in annual unlimited category plan which will cost Rs 2,398 instead of 1,699 at present.

A rough calculation showed that the new plans are costlier up to 42 per cent compared to earlier plans.

As per the Communications Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad's replies in Parliament, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea and other telecom companies owe the government as much as Rs 1.47 lakh crore in past statutory dues.

The recent announcement comes on the backdrop of Airtel's highest quarterly loss of Rs 50,922 crore amid an adverse Supreme Court ruling on adjusted gross revenue (AGR). These will be effective from December 3. Other telecom service providers such as Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio have also made a decision to hike tariffs.

Vodafone Idea has only revised rates of plan promising unlimited mobile and data services and also introduced some new plans.

Vodafone Idea annual (365-day validity) plans have a FUP limit of 12,000 minutes for off-net calls made from Vodafone to other networks. Plan valid for 28 days.

According to industry experts, operators had to increase tariffs so as increase ARPUs by at least 25 per cent to tide over the present crisis.

It approved giving Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea, and Reliance Jio the option to avail a two-year moratorium on payments they were supposed to make in yearly instalments for the spectrum bought in auctions.

Vodafone Idea 84-day validity plans have FUP limit of 3,000 for off-net calls, unlike 28-day validity plans from Vodafone Idea. Outgoing calls at 2.5 paisa per second.

This plan offers 1.5GB data per day for 28 days.

Post the revisions, the current Rs 129 pack for 28 days with unlimited calling, 300 SMS, and 2GB data will cost Rs 148, an Airtel statement said.

According to government data, the liabilities in the case of Bharti Airtel add up to almost Rs 35,586 crore, of which Rs 21,682 crore is licence fee and another Rs 13,904.01 crore is the SUC dues (excluding the dues of Telenor and Tata Teleservices).

Reliance Jio's new plans come into effect on December 6, 2019. Just like Reliance Jio, Airtel is also including a fair-usage-policy on unlimited calling from Airtel to other networks.

₹1499: In this plan, Vodafone Idea will get unlimited voice calls (FUP of 12000 minutes for off-net calls), 24 GB data, 3600 SMS. Off-net (to other operators) calls will be charged as per base tariff rate.
