Ahead of Half-Life: Alyx, Valve's VR Headset is Completely Sold Out

We are only two months or so away from the release of Half Life: Alyx. If you live anywhere else in the world, it looks like you're stuck waiting for Valve to restock inventory.

Valve revealed the next entry into the popular Half-Life franchise would be a virtual reality exclusive in November previous year.

This also applies to the different packages available, including the full $999 option, and the cheapest, headset-only one.

He's Back: Larry Fitzgerald Returns To Play In 2020
The future Hall of Fame wide receiver who will turn 37 in late August, is returning for his 17th National Football League season. Teammates wanted him back, too, though nobody seemed totally certain what his final decision would be.

According to Road to VR, neither love nor money will get you an Index right now.

This could be a make-or-break moment for Valve and its VR headset. It's clear that people are excited enough by Half-Life: Alyx that they want to buy an Index, and if Valve can't fulfill that demand, it could miss out on a very lucrative window for the headset. In brief, Valve's strategy of rekindling one of its cult franchises to propel sales of the VR hardware appears to have been more successful than it had expected. That report claims that "after a comprehensive check of Valve Index stock and availability in all 31 countries in which Index is sold, we found that the headset is sold out across the globe". Valve seems to have revamped its ordering pages with granular Index kit notification levels to prevent customer disillusionment. Valve says Alyx was built "hand-in-hand" (get it) with Index, so naturally you'll get the best experience there. "We are targeting to be back in stock before Half-Life: Alyx ships".

Half-Life: Alyx - the first Half-Life game we've seen in more than a decade and the flagship title for Valve's Index VR headset - is on the horizon.
