In June, police officers found the drug at Chung's Meredith, N.H. home as they responded to an alarm that was tripped.

The defensive back pleaded not guilty on August 26.

"The parties have agreed to resolve the pending criminal charges against Mr. Chung, under the following terms", Belknap County attorney Andrew Livernois said in a statement.

"The State has agreed that it will file what is known as a "conditional nolle prosequi" of the charges", the Belknap County Attorney's office said in a press release.

Chung agrees to waive his rights to speedy trial and/or speedy indictment with regard to the charges in the case, and agrees that, should he fail to comply with any of these requirements, the state has the right to reinstate the charges in this case and prosecute him at that time.

Chung, 32, will have to keep his nose clean and avoid any run-ins with the law. That will be completed within the the next 18 months and at least 20 hours of that community service will be done in New Hampshire.

Prosecutors say they considered the fact that Chung had no prior criminal history while reaching the agreement.

Chung can still be disciplined by the NFL.

Chung has been a staple of the Patriots secondary, winning three Super Bowls during his 10 seasons in New England.
