"Boeing is one of the largest exporters, and with the 737 Max, I think that could impact GDP as much as 50 basis points this year".

"Therefore, we believe that AirAsia's fleet plan for Malaysia is poised to grab some market share from Malaysia Airlines, increasing its share of circa 60%".

The "phase one" trade deal signed by the US and China Wednesday is expected to unblock an informal halt to Chinese orders for Boeing jets that had begun to affect the manufacturer's long-term production plans, and it could lead to big orders in 2020 and 2021.

On Sunday, U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin told Fox News Sunday that "There's no question that the Boeing situation is going to slow down the GDP numbers".

The last Chinese order for a Boeing jet was in November 2017.

New Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun issued a statement Wednesday welcoming the deal.

Orders for the Max have been dented amid uncertainty over when regulators will finally clear the plane to resume flights. Including an accounting rule that restricts the revenue USA companies book from deals at risk of not materialising, the Boeing tally shrank to negative 87 orders for the year.
