Spotify Now Making Personality-Based Playlists for Your Pet — And Ozzy Osbourne's Dog Loves His

Spotify said it found in a survey that one in four pet-owners play music for their pets to listen to for company when they are away from home, with 42 percent of owners saying their pets have a favorite type of music.

It is voiced by British actors Ralph Ineson and Jessica Raine, whom your dog may remember from the HBO series "Game of Thrones" and BBC period drama "Call The Midwife", respectively.

The pair offer "dog-directed praise, stories, affirmation messages and reassurance", Spotify said as it unveiled its new offering, My Dog's Favourite Podcast.

The podcast - in two five-hour blocks - is underpinned by relaxing music and ambient sounds such as light rain and rustling leaves.

The Swedish audio streaming site, which has 113 million subscribers, has launched a range of "algorithmically curated" pet playlists and a new podcast meant to calm dogs left on their own.

'While there is a lot of scientific research that has shown that short periods of music can make dogs more relaxed, we have shown that providing dogs with varied auditory enrichment can be used to reduce stress and anxiety over longer periods of time, ' said Neil Evans, a pet physiologist and professor at the University of Glasgow.

Spotify today announced "Pet Playlists", which builds custom playlists for a cat, dog, iguana, hamster, or bird (via The Verge).

"An energetic dog might get a playlist with tracks that are upbeat, while a shy cat might get something with slower tempos", Spotify said.
