‘Star Trek: Picard’ Officially Renewed For Season 2 By CBS All Access – TCA

It's yet to make its television debut on either Amazon Prime Video nor CBS All Access, but Star Trek: Picard, the new TV show centering around Patrick Stewart's titular space captain, has already been renewed for a second season. "We're thrilled to announce plans for a second season earlier than the collection' debut, and we're assured that Star Trek followers and new viewers alike can be captured by the stellar forged and artistic crew's meticulously crafted story when it premieres on January 23".

In response to Deadline, which first broke the report, season 2 will include 10 episodes.

While the Picard renewal is now official, there is no official word yet when Season 2 will premiere and how many episodes it will be.

We so far know very little about to actually expect from this new Star Trek show, but such is the love that fans have in both Stewart himself and writer and executive producer Akiva Goldsman, that people don't seem to care too much for those minor details and are likely just happy to watch the show regardless.

Star Trek: Picard has been generating a lot of buzz since its initial announcement.

Special guest stars are Next Generation Alumni Brent Spiner, Jonathan Del Arco, Jonathan Frakes and Jeri Ryan. Back in the Jean-Luc Picard role for the first time since 2002's Star Trek: Nemesis movie, Stewart shifted and additionally said, "Perhaps it should reflect the world that we're living in, and that's what Star Trek has always done". He also voiced a Romulan (although uncredited) in the 2009 Star Trek reboot.
