Manchester City banned from European club competitions for two seasons by Uefa

UEFA have announced that Manchester City have been banned from participating in the Champions League for the next two seasons.

City lost a previous appeal to CAS over UEFA's original decision to refer them to its adjudicatory chamber over the alleged FFP violations.

In their statement, they also ask for impartial and independent bodies to "consider the comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence in support of [their] position". The subsequent flawed and consistently leaked UEFA process he oversaw has meant that there was little doubt in the result that he would deliver.

UEFA's financial regulations forbid clubs from receiving more than a capped amount of investment from ownership, and this clearly violated those rules.

The club said it will appeal the UEFA verdict to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

The emails showed that City ownership were mostly funding the club's $88 million Etihad sponsorship in an effort to circumnavigate FFP regulations.

UEFA previously found City guilty of FFP breaches in 2014, with a €60m fine - later reduced to €20m after stipulated conditions were met - and a restriction in squad numbers for their 2014-15 Champions League campaign the punishment on that occasion. The club itself, with annual revenue in the past year of $635m, according to Deloitte, is the fifth-richest football club in the world.

Lakers, Lee's suit was also embellished with the number 24, an homage to the athlete's number on the court. And then, of course, Kobe was honored in the In Memoriam segment, towards the end of the ceremony.

The Spaniard - who won the trophy twice while in charge of Barcelona - thinks City's season will be considered a failure if they are unable to get past Real Madrid in the last 16.

The Manchester club has also been hit with a fine of a massive KSh 3.2 billion (£25m) by the European football governing body.

City were found to have falsely inflated their sponsorship revenues.

Regulations, which must be adhered to by all clubs participating in UEFA competitions, were drawn up in 2009 and introduced at the start of the 2011-12 season, with clubs required to balance their books over the course of three years.

"If UEFA decide we did something wrong, OK, we'll be banned, we'll be punished or whatever they decide", added Guardiola in May 2018.

"I want to win the Champions League", Guardiola told Sky Sports.

The City Football Group includes the Manchester club and owns or part-owns New York City FC, Melbourne City FC, Yokohama F. Marinos in Japan, Club Atletico Torque in Uruguay, Girona FC in Spain and Sichuan Jiuniu FC in China.
