Of course if he is successful at the Olympics, he could return with a spring in his step but Klopp is unlikely to want to lose one of his top players for two global tournaments within the same season.

The reacted from Liverpool fans has come after Egypt's Olympic coach Shawky Gharib claimed he wants to use Salah as one of the team's three over-ages players.

The football event at the Olympics will take place between July 22nd and August 8th, meaning that Salah might miss-out on Liverpool's pre-season preparations and their opening Premier League game next year.

"Salah's participation with the Pharaohs team in Tokyo is a decision to be taken only by Salah, his club Liverpool and his coach Jurgen Klopp. What he said is the same truth", he said, noting that Klopp had not ruled out or backed his player featuring in Tokyo.

"I think we had a good break and everyone is fresh and everyone is excited to go again, so hopefully we will be ready for the game", the 27-year-old added. "I will speak with Mo and all that stuff".

Notably, Salah had also won the Reds' Goal of the Month last week with his stoppage-time strike against Manchester United at Anfield.

Top weight Tiger still to qualify
The J.P McManus owned 8-year old will carry 10st 6lb should he run in what would be his first attempt around the Liverpool track. Trained by Gordon Elliott, Tiger Roll is looking to become the first horse to win the Grand National in three straight years.

"How would it look?"

I hope Salah ends up deciding against playing in the Olympics - the ball is believed to be in his and Liverpool's court - for obvious reasons.

". The release of players over the age of 23 is not compulsory, but, as always, we appeal for solidarity within the football family", the most pertinent part of the circular read.

Egypt qualified for Tokyo 2020 at the Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Cairo in November, where they lifted the trophy.

The African country's appearance in London was their first at the Games since Barcelona 1992.
