Red Bull Unveils RB16 2020 Formula 1 Race Car

Verstappen says Red Bull must be'competitive from the start in 2020

Red Bull Racing's RB16 has broken cover for the first time, the vehicle with which the team hopes it will end Mercedes' dominance in Formula 1.

Following Ferrari's unveiling of the SF1000 on Tuesday night, Red Bull ran its new vehicle early on Wednesday morning at the home of the British Grand Prix.

With the RB16 already showing "a lot of promise on the sim" according to Verstappen's team mate Alex Albon, who was at Silverstone yesterday to watch Verstappen shake down the vehicle during a filming day, the other piece of the puzzle Red Bull need to be firing on all cylinders is their Honda power units.

At first sight it appears the team, which won three races last year with Max Verstappen, will pick up from where it left off last year, its new contender looking a lot like its predecessor, save for a few minor changes. The colour scheme looks nearly identical to past year - the auto was unveiled with the tag line "liveries are made to last".

The Red Bull shakedown will be followed by a Renault season preview event in Paris later today, before McLaren launches on Thursday and Mercedes carries out a similar shakedown at Silverstone on Friday.

Thai driver Alex Albon will partner Verstappen at the team for his first full season at Red Bull, having been promoted from Toro Rosso past year.

Red Bull's prospects have also been boosted by Honda confirming it will continue to act as its engine partner, and also supply AlphaTauri, into 2021.
