South Africa Tour Of Pakistan Postponed Due To Heavy Workload

CSA was due to send a security delegation to Pakistan next month to assess arrangements ahead of the tour, cricket website ESPNcricinfo reported.

"As Cricket South Africa we are painfully aware that our country is afflicted by rising numbers of femicide and violent crimes against women", commented CSA acting chief executive, Jacques Faul.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that Mark Boucher's Proteas won't travel to Pakistan for a three-match T20 matches in March. Rawalpindi had been suggested as the venue for the three T20Is.

The focus point of the campaign will be the T20 worldwide match between the Proteas and Australia to be played in Durban on March 22 when both teams will wear black outfits in line with the overall theme. "I have assured my counterpart at the PCB, Wasim Khan, that the tour remains very much on our worldwide schedule".

"I'd like to stress that security was not an issue in asking the PCB for this postponement".

According to a press release by the PCB, the CSA conveyed their decision to the cricket board after taking player workload into account.

"We are pleased that the CSA remains committed to rescheduling this short series. both the boards are now exploring their Future Tour Programs to find gaps so that we can agree on the dates", Khan said.

South Africa's proposed tour would have followed last year's series in Pakistan, which saw Sri Lanka visiting.

South Africa is presently hosting Twenty20s at home against England.

As such, South Africa have not been the busiest team since the 50-over World Cup past year. Within five days of the last game against England, they will host Australia for three T20Is and as many ODIs, stretching the last game to March 7.
