Roman Reigns Reportedly Out Of WrestleMania 36 Match

WWE superstar Roman Reigns will not feature at next week's WrestleMania 36 event due to his compromised immune system after previous battles with leukemia.

The 34-year-old was supposed to wrestle Goldberg for the WWE Universal Championship during the April 4 and 5th event - but due to his recent cancer battle, he ultimately decided it was too risky, according to ProWrestlingSheet.

The former world champion reportedly approached WWE officials and expressed his concern over competing at any upcoming Performance Center shows amid the current COVID-19 global pandemic.

Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated revealed via Twitter that he reached out to WWE for comment on the status of Roman Reigns and WWE declined to comment. Obviously, anyone with underlying health issues or anyone at an advanced age has a higher risk of serious complications if they are exposed to the virus.

According to the World Health Organization , the average recovery time for mild cases of COVID-19 is about two weeks. Gobert's teammate Donovan Mitchell tested positive along with four Brooklyn Nets players, including Kevin Durant .

There is no word yet on if other wrestlers have pulled out of the show but we'll post updates if we hear more.

WWE is now working on a replacement opponent for Goldberg.

The biggest event every year in the WWE calendar, WrestlemMania, was initially scheduled as a live event to take place at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Florida, on April 5.
