'The Walking Dead' season finale is being delayed due to coronavirus

The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9/8c on AMC.

AMC announced on Tuesday that The Walking Dead season ten finale will be delayed to later this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Recent developments have sadly made it challenging to finish post-assembling of The Walking Dead Season 10 finale; an AMC rep tells TVLine in an announcement. "The planned finale will appear as a special episode later in the year", AMC tweeted. The long and short of what you saw in the episode is what they came up with in the writers' room.

On April 12, the closing chapter of the current tenth season was scheduled to be broadcast, but given the paralysis of many works, post-production can not be completed.

"Post production for those who are curious involves VFX, music, sound mixing and sound FX", wrote Nicotero on Instagram.

There is no start date for the new series, with AMC saying it will air later this year. "I thought you were a maniac with katana swords", he said, "but my son Carl thought we should save you".

The chapter that is scheduled to air on AMC next Sunday, April 5, will also show the Princess being encountered by Eugene's group.

The episodes will be available to stream through Friday May 1.

And that's not the only corner of the Walking Dead universe to be impacted.

The Walking Dead is finishing its season sooner than anticipated due to the coronavirus emergency. Critics, including Insider, were asked to hold reviews of the upcoming series until further notice.
