Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has explained why he signed Brazil star Fabinho from Monaco for an estimated fee of about €45 million (R653 million).

In the previous year, Liverpool have completed the three most expensive signings in their history, with the latest two joining the 80m euros January arrival of Virgil van Dijk.

Fabinho said: 'We spoke a bit more about the infrastructure of the club, the city and we also spoke about the coaches and how they do their work so I was able to know a bit more about Liverpool through Firmino.

Brazilian midfielder Fabinho will join the Reds for a deal that could be worth more than £40m, somewhat lifting the gloom inevitably descending on the city following their 3-1 defeat. 'This is something that I always wanted - this is a giant of a team.

One of the major criticisms levelled against Klopp is that he's a one-trick pony, unable of tweaking his 4-3-3 formation to match the demands of a particular game.

"The contact had been over a few weeks". Also great to see no ITK's knew about our interest in Fabinho, club doing things properly.

"With all that, it was easy to say yes". I play with a lot of intensity and I'm quite strong in man-marking.

LeBron James leads Cavs past Celtics and into NBA Finals
LeBron scored 12 of the Cavaliers' 18 first-quarter points while the non-LeBron Cavs shot just 2 of 9 from the floor. They can say that they made it to Game 7 of the conference finals without two of their three best players.

He is represented by super agent Jorge Mendes and was linked with Manchester United in the past.

Fabinho has four caps for his country but last played for Brazil in 2016, while the 24-year-old is not included in Tite's squad for the World Cup.

"I had two choices", he added.

Fabinho's spell with Rio Ave didn't last long, just over a month in fact, as he was soon off to Madrid to link up with Real Madrid's Castilla side. I do not want to talk about other clubs. "I had already decided".

Fabinho has shown he can cope in these circumstances, and his presence might also allow Liverpool's full-backs to push (even) further forward.

But agreement has now been reached with the Premier League club that will see Fabinho join the Reds following the finals in Russian Federation.
