Donald Glover & Ryan Gosling Rumored for Willy Wonka Shortlist

Warner Bros has begun putting together a shortlist of stars for the legendary role, and it's said to be led by Glover and his fellow actors Ryan Gosling, 37, and Ezra Miller, 25.

While the late Gene Wilder's take on Wonka will take some beating for many people, Johnny Depp was fearless enough to take on the character for Tim Burton's 2005 remake. If rumors are correct, the film could chart the confectioner's road to fame and fortune, and hopefully how he met the Oompa Loompas.

Paul King (Paddington) has been tapped to direct, with David Heyman (Harry Potter) as producer and Simon Rich as screenwriter (Man Seeking Woman).

A true champion to the end, DiMarco celebrated by chugging her brewski ― without removing the ball. But if things were seeming predictable, that changed when a foul ball flew into the stands.

Glover is fresh off Lucasfilm's Solo: A Star Wars Story, while Gosling and Miller have a recent history of working with Warner Bros. on Blade Runner: 2049 and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, respectively.

Collider notes, however, that Glover has been actively pursuing the role - though he may find that his schedule is too packed, what with work on the re-make of The Lion King - in which he'll play Simba - underway.

The new Wonka film will be the third time the character has appeared on the big screen. Dahl's novel was adapted a second time by Tim Burton, with Johnny Depp playing the eccentric chocolatier in 2005's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Till then, drop us a line in the comments explaining who you think is best suited to the role.
