A slight chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms is in store for an otherwise mostly-sunny Tuesday with a high of 78 and a low of 63.

With the potentially-heavy downpours, up to an inch and a half of rain can be expected. Some will have locally heavy rain, but the risk of severe weather is very low. Luckily, humidity will drop behind the cold front by Tuesday. Temperatures will warm heading into the work week and more rain chances towards the end of the upcoming week.

Scattered storms are possible again on Sunday, mainly along and east of I-69.

Bruce Poliquin will attempt to defend his seat against the victor of a three-person Democratic primary featuring state Rep. Katie Arrington (R-Dorchester) defeated Sanford, earning more than 51 percent of the vote to Sanford's 46 percent.

Saturday: Partly sunny with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. That can cause local high water issues to develop tonight and Wednesday. Overnight, showers should dissipate with lows in the mid to upper 60's.

Today will be the third day in a row with active showers and storms possible.

Wednesday looks mostly dry, but scattered rain chances return to the forecast Thursday and continue for your Friday.

The strong to severe storms will be moving through the mountains this afternoon into the evening hours. We can expect mostly cloudy skies with perhaps some sunshine breaking through the clouds later this afternoon.
