Kellogg Company is voluntarily recalling 1.1 million Honey Smacks packets across more than 30 U.S. states over concerns about potential salmonella contamination.

Kellogg is asking that people who purchased the potentially affected cereal discard it and contact the company for a full refund.

An identifier of the recalled cereal includes an expiration date of June 14, 2019, according to the CDC website.

The Kellogg Company is voluntarily recalling one of its cereals which may be tainted with Salmonella.

Martin's next step is to meet with Tory MP Lucy Frazer , along with Hobhouse and her lawyer Ryan Whelan to plan their next steps. It will be returned to the house for another Friday Private Members Bill session on July 6, again with government support.

No other Kellogg products are impacted by the recall, the company said. NY has the highest number of reported cases with seven; followed by California, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania, each with five. RIDOH's State Health Laboratory has begun testing the product locally from shelves and RIDOH's Center for Food Protection will be communicating directly with licensed vendors about the recall.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said there have been 73 cases across 31 states of people infected with salmonella from eating the cereal. No deaths have been reported, according to the CDC.

Retailers have been advised not to sell the recalled cereal, and consumers should throw away or return any Kellogg's Honey Smackscereal without eating it. "This is based on preliminary evidence linking the cereal to an outbreak of illnesses across the country, said Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Scott Gottlieb in an agency brief".

If you store the cereal in another container, throw the cereal away, and thoroughly wash the container with warm, soapy water before using it again. Needless to say, if you've eaten what you suspect is contaminated cereal, contact your doctor to be on the safe side. Children younger than 5, elderly people and individuals with weakened symptoms are more likely than others to get severe salmonellosis.
