There are no details thus far as to the extent of the injury, but the 19-year-old is expected to undergo tests after his early exit.

The Paris Saint Germain youngster fell on the ground after a tackle by the Marseille defender and was holding his ankle before heading off for treatment.

Kylian Mbappe limped out of training just four days before France's opening World Cup game against Australia in Kazan.

Mbappe eased fears of a serious injury, posting on social media: "I'm fine, it was just a knock, so not serious. And let my friend Rami [know] it was not nasty".

After that they will face Peru in Yekaterinburg on June 21 and Denmark in Moscow on June 26.

Mbappe has been a pivotal player for France over the a year ago and has started each of the last seven friendlies, getting three goals and four assists in that time.

But the 19-year-old sensation has provided a promising update and also sent a reassuring message to Rami.
