WWDC 2018: Apple unveils iOS 12 features, emojis and release date
Apple is expected to unveil tools to help people look at their iPhones less. Once done, you simply need to go to the Walkie-Talkie app, select the contact, press the on-screen button and send your voice message. The phone's screen can also be set to dim automatically just before bedtime. New additions could include a way to track and set limits for time spent on certain apps.
Apple, kicking off its annual developers conference, appeared to be setting itself apart from Facebook, which has drawn the ire of privacy activists, and even showed how its software could prevent the social network from tracking users on Apple devices.
Apple announced some new updates to its personal assistant, Siri.
New MacOS Mojave and iOS 12 software to be released later this year will also make it harder to use trackers to create "unique fingerprints" by gleaning data about devices being used, according to Federighi.
And that underscores a paradox: Apple is introducing features to limit iPhone use at the same time it's encouraging more use by building in more useful features.
iOS 12 will come out later this year, it'll be supported on every single device that runs iOS 11 right now.
'I have the absolute right to pardon myself'
Former mayor of New York City Rudy Giuliani says President Trump could probably pardon himself, but he won't. But in the only court challenge to that so far, a judge supported Mueller's mandate.
Apple could introduce a tool to help users better manage their time on their devices. The company said Siri gets 10 billion requests per week.
Apple will be rolling out the watchOS 5 update sometime in the fall months, and will be available for all variants of the Apple Watch Series 3 and the Apple Watch Series 2. The company started that effort past year when it built AR tools into most iPhones and iPads; by contrast, Google had limited that to niche Android phone models.
The ability to use Animojis in FaceTime and do group video calls with up to 32 people.
Apple also unveiled an app called "Measure" that measures boxes and other objects in the real world by pointing the camera at them.
While Apple told us at the event how the entire ecosystem is evolving, here are a few hilarious reactions from Tweitteratis that will give you insane laughing fits! In January, major shareholders wrote a letter to Apple hoping to persuade the Cupertino company to add more parental controls as well as explore the impact of excessive phone use on mental health.
