Someone's just won $522,000,000 on the U.S. Mega Millions lottery

The state lottery's verified Twitter feed said the winning ticket was sold at Ernie's Liquors in San Jose.

The $1 million winning tickets from New Jersey were sold at the Winslow Citgo located on Route 73 in Camden County and the US Gas on Blairstown Road in Warren County. The lucky numbers were 01-02-04-19-29. Two, sold in MA and Texas, included the optional Megaplier (an optional $1 purchase available in most states) and are worth $3 million each.

The next Mega Millions drawing will come on Friday, at which time the winning jackpot will reset at a starting value of $40 million. The name of the victor wasn't immediately known.

There was a total of 3,109,361 winning tickets on Tuesday night at all prize levels. The Mega Millions pot is the fifth largest in that game's history.

The odds of winning both jackpots are one in 75 quadrillion - that's 15 zeros - according to data scientists at Allstate. You can buy a ticket for $2 and pick six numbers from two different pools. The annuity prize is an estimated $522 million to be paid out over 30 years.

Three winners from California, Florida and Tennessee shared the colossal amount, taking home a massive $327.8m (£248m) each.
