There was no hint whatsoever that new MacBooks are coming.

Now we have what could be a new MacBook Pro appearing in the benchmark app's results, dubbed the MacBookPro15,2.

Benchmarks scores of a MacBook Pro running on Intel's 8th-gen Coffee-Lake CPU has been leaked via Twitter.

The eight-generation Core i7-8559U CPU in this device has a base frequency of 2.7GHz, but a maximum turbo speed of 4.5GHz. Single-core performance raked in 4,448 points, while the multi-core score hit 16,607; pretty decent all in all.

A 2018 refresh of the MacBook Pro is certainly due and has been rumored to be on the cards for months now.

The benchmark shows the notebook achieving a single-core score of 4448 and a multi-core score of 16607, which is pretty decent and almost double the score of the 13-inch MacBook Pro from mid-2017. Interestingly, the multi-core score trumps the 15-inch model from previous year, even though the Core i7-7920HQ should be a more powerful CPU, and the highest scoring 13-inch model was from mid-2017 with 9,553.

"The previous MacBook Pro that appeared on GeekBench was Apple's 13" Touch Bar variant launched a year ago. So far, no other OEM has released a laptop in the market featuring the above mentioned Core i7 processor. But last year's dual-core laptop only does 9500 in the multi-core department. This chassis was fitted with Intel's Core i7-8750H and 32GB of RAM. Not that the MacBook Pros are particularly ugly or in need of a design overhaul, but Apple could do something a bit fancy to mix things up beyond adding a somewhat redundant Touch Bar. "The welcoming news is the presence of 16GB of RAM in today's listing but since its running the i7, the model clearly does not represent the 13" lineup's entry variant.
