HBO's (T.N) medieval fantasy series "Game of Thrones" led nominations for the Emmy Awards on Thursday that spanned satire to the supernatural, but streaming service Netflix (NFLX.O) knocked HBO off its 17-year pedestal as the network with the most nods. This is the first time either of the stars have hosted the show, which is also being executive produced by Lorne Michaels.

John Legend scores a nomination of his own for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie for his role as Jesus in NBC's "Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert".

First-year comedies had the best showing in the comedy series category in nearly two decades, with three nominees, Amazon/Prime Video'sThe Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, HBO's Barry, and Netflix's GLOW. "Atlanta" will face newcomers including "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, " "Glow" and "Barry".

HBO's Westworld received 21 nominations, while the seventh season of Game of Thrones received 22 nominations.

Moss was nominated for best actress in a drama series for The Handmaid's Tale, with Strahovski's nomination coming in the supporting actress category. He earned the series' first major award in 2017, when he won the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series.
