Dodgers are supposedly in line to acquire Manny Machado this week, maybe
The biggest prize of the 2018 Major League Baseball trading block looks has reportedly found his new home, as the Baltimore Orioles are expected to trade Manny Machado to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today.
Heyman names the Philadelphia Phillies, Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers as leaders for Machado, with the Yankees and Cleveland Indians lagging behind. With the Orioles well out of the playoff hunt and Machado on the final year of his contract before free agency, it made sense that he would be traded as Baltimore attempts to reload with some talent that can help the franchise down the line.
Olney did not report the team that would be getting Machado, who is batting.315 this season with 24 home runs and 65 RBIs. Adding Machado and installing him at short would allow the Dodgers to shift Chris Taylor from short to second base and thus plug that hole.
As rumors swirled about his imminent departure from the Orioles, Machado addressed the media Monday, acknowledging it will feel different to play for another team.
