Shardul Thakur to replace Jasprit Bumrah in India's ODI squad against England

India's tour of England kick-started on July 3 with the first T20I match at Old Trafford cricket ground in Manchester. He along with Jaydev Unadkat, however, were overlooked for the Ireland T20Is and the ongoing T20I series against England.

Shardul Thakur, who was the part of Chennai Super Kings in the last IPL season, has been named as the replacement of Jasprit Bumrah for the upcoming ODI series against England. Two of their star players in Washington Sundar and Jasprit Bumrah got injured owing to which they were ruled out of their respective squads.

Bumrah is now the number one ranked bowler in ODIs and his absence will come as a big blow for India. Thakur, who has impressed with his variations, will be crucial for India's chances in ODI series.

The BCCI also said that Bumrah, 24, underwent surgery on Wednesday and has returned to India for rehabilitation.

But it was too late for Brazil to muster an equalizer as Courtois thwarted several efforts to force the game into extra time . That set up the game nicely for a manic finish in which a clearly rattled Belgium failed to regain their attacking momentum.

Recently, Shardul Thakur has been announced as Bumrah's replacement in the ODI team. Undoubtedly, he has single-handedly won many games for the Indian team.

Bumrah sustained a fractured thumb on his left hand during India's first Twenty20 match against Ireland last month and has already been ruled out of the ongoing Twenty20 worldwide series against England. It will be a huge blow for the Indian team in the ODI series against England.

Deepak Chahar has been added to the side for the three-match T20I series. Shardul Thakur was the part of winning India-A squad in the tri-series in England.

India are scheduled to play three ODIs against England: Nottingham - July 12, London - July 14 & Leeds - July 17.
