Papa John’s to remove founder’s image from ads

On Friday, the school's president said that Schnatter supports taking "Papa John's" off of the name, in light of the recent scandal stemming from his use of the n-word during a conference call.

Papa John's had already announced last week that Schnatter resigned as chairman of its board of directors and his image would no longer be used in its marketing, but the newest release detailed additional actions taken by a special committee formed to evaluate all of the company's relationships with its public face for the past three decades. Schnatter also stepped down from the university's board of trustees, the Lexington Herald Leader reported.

The founder agreement, which dates to 2007, defines on Schnatter's special role with the company, including "attending major corporate events, making visits to domestic and global franchises, participating in monthly quality meetings with management, participating in meetings with investors, and acting as advertising and brand spokesperson".

UPDATE 1:42 p.m. ET: The Seahawks tell PFT that the relationship with Papa John's has ended, that the team now is finalizing a new pizza partnership, that the new partner will be announced during training camp if not sooner, and that this process began "months ago".
