Pays Trump's Scotland golf resort $77000 ahead of visit

Trump remained at the resort and played golf there last Saturday, between a summit of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation alliance and a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Spending records seen by Reuters show that the US State Department, which typically arranges presidential travel overseas, paid US$77,345.35 since April to SLC Turnberry Ltd, the Trump company that owns the resort, for "hotel rooms for VIP visit". Trump was at the club last weekend.

Instead, he passed control to his two adult sons, Eric and Donald Jr., and a senior Trump Organization executive.

"This is another example of President Trump using the power and authority of his office to profit personally", Brendan Fischer, director of federal reform at watchdog group the Campaign Legal Center, told the newspaper.
