Putin Says He Agreed With Trump to Secure Syria Border With Israel

House Speaker Paul Ryan said Monday there was "no question" that Moscow interfered in the US 2016 election and that President Donald Trump 'must appreciate that Russian Federation is not our ally'.

Russia has agreed with the U.S.to secure Syria's border with Israel in line with a 1974 cease-fire agreement over the occupied Golan Heights, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

Mr Trump said he has "great confidence" in his intelligence agencies who have concluded Russian Federation interfered in the election.

While American intelligence agencies have assessed that Putin himself signed off on a campaign to sow discord among the United States voting public and tilt the election in favor of President Trump, the Russian president denied his government was involved.

"Missed opportunity by President Trump to firmly hold Russian Federation accountable for 2016 meddling and deliver a strong warning regarding future elections", Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said on Twitter.

His scepticism drew a quick formal statement - nearly a rebuttal - from Mr Trump's director of national intelligence, Dan Coats. Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin started their first bilateral meeting here on Monday.

"President Putin says it's not Russian Federation". I think the USA has been foolish.

He said his message was "best delivered in person", adding that he "spent a great deal of time" talking about election meddling.

Putin said that he was not even aware that Trump was in Moscow in 2013 for the Miss Universe pageant when it has been previously reported that Trump invited him to attend.

"They hacked a certain email account and there was information about manipulations conducted within the Democratic party to incline the process in favor of one candidate", Putin said.

"On the world stage, in front of the entire globe, the president of the United States essentially capitulated and seems intimidated by Vladimir Putin", Clapper told CNN. "We are the two great nuclear powers". "But if we are going to solve numerous problems facing our world, then we are going to have to find ways to cooperate in pursuit of shared interests".

The Obama administration did, in fact, take action, including confronting Mr Putin in person, as well as expelling almost three dozen Russian diplomats the U.S. said were actually intelligence operatives and imposing new sanctions. If you look at Russian Federation and the United States, that's 90 percent of the nuclear weapons'.

The president was also roundly condemned for stating he held "both countries responsible" for the deterioration in US-Russia relations.

The Russian Foreign Ministry rejected last week's indictment as part of a "shameful comedy" they claim has been staged to prevent the normalization of Russia-U.S. ties. "So far that I know, virtually none of it related to the campaign".

The American president said it is a "shame" there is a cloud over his administration, but said he ran a "brilliant campaign and that's why I'm president".

Instead, he denounced the "stupidity" of his own country's policies, especially the decision to investigate Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Many in Washington were agog at Trump's decision to sit alone with Putin, anxious about what he might bargain away to the former KGB spymaster, after previously cosying up to the autocratic leaders of China and North Korea.

Asked whether he had wanted Trump to win the 2016 election and had instructed officials to help him, Putin said: "Yes I did", although he denied any interference, saying the allegations were "complete nonsense".
