Putin-Trump negotiations last two hours

Finnish President Sauli Niinistö has expressed his hope that a wider importance is attached to the highly anticipated summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump in Helsinki on Monday, 16 July.

"They initially asked him to step out of the room, which he did peacefully", White House correspondent Jim Acosta explained during CNN's live coverage of the meeting.

He also said in the interview, taped Saturday, that he "hadn't thought" about asking Putin to extradite the dozen Russian military intelligence officers indicted this past week in Washington on charges related to the hacking of Democratic targets in the 2016 us presidential election.

The meeting is to take place in Helsinki and follows Trump's first official visit to the United Kingdom as a sitting USA president.

The indictments raised the stakes for the Helsinki summit, even as the Trump administration looked to ratchet down expectations. "President Putin said it's not Russian Federation".

Ahead of the summit, Trump said he would press Putin on the issue of Russian interference in the election but that he didn't expect a "Perry Mason" moment to result.

When pressed by a reporter about whether Trump held Russian Federation to blame for anything, Trump said both countries were to blame.

Departing for Helsinki on Sunday from a weekend at his golf resort in Scotland, the president bristled about how his performance with Putin may be judged. Trump also said the Federal Bureau of Investigation needed to find Hillary Clinton's emails. "I don't see any reason why it would be", he said. "But certainly, I'll be asking about it". "They were doing whatever it was during the Obama administration". "I think the United States has been foolish".

The drama between Trump and Putin will play out at the imposing 19th Century presidential palace in Helsinki from about 6:00 a.m.

"That press conference was a disgrace", House Foreign Affairs ranking member Eliot Engel, D-N.Y., wrote in his own statement.

So, on the occasion of her birthday, the makers chose to release Katrina's look from the upcoming movie and we are stunned. But all of us actors wait for the moment when we can sink our teeth into a character deeper than beauty and its trappings.

Trump also said he's confident Washington and Moscow can improve relations and said a friendly and productive relationship is "a good thing".

Trump's European trip has, by many accounts, been a complete disaster. "And secondly, sir, does the Russian government have any compromising material on President Trump or on his family?"

He said European countries shouldn't be anxious about a possible US-Russian rapprochement or decisions about Europe made "over the heads of Europeans".

The grand jury didn't find that any American knowingly cooperated with Moscow's operations. "But I think we will end up having an extraordinary relationship".

"It isn't a summit", U.S. Ambassador to Russia Jon Huntsman told NBC'S "Meet the Press".

Trump's repeated warm words for Russian Federation were a marked contrast from the past week when he repeatedly rebuked traditional US allies at a summit of North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and a visit to Britain. Now he's trashing our European allies while fawning all over Vladimir Putin, who he praised for putting on the "best ever" World Cup.

He said that Russian Federation is a foe "in certain respects" and that China is a foe "economically ... but that doesn't mean they are bad. I really think the world wants to see us get along".

"Russia is a foe in certain respects".

But whether a nuclear arms deal between the two powerful leaders that control more than 90 per cent of the world's nuclear stockpile will take place we will have to wait with baited breath until Trump takes to Twitter to tell us.
