Thierry Henry 'agrees to become new Aston Villa manager'

Bruce has been in charge of Villa since October 2016 after replacing Roberto Di Matteo and guiding the club to 13th.

Steve Bruce now remains in charge of the Championship outfit, but new majority shareholders Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens are understood to be considering a change following last week's takeover of the financially-stricken club.

The situation does have a whiff of new owners coming in, not liking the look of Bruce and wanting the shiny new option of Henry. If he is to be ousted as manager, the 57-year-old will have to be paid off.

The arrival of Edens and Sawiris has eased those financial concerns and means Villa now have the funds to change manager should they choose, with Bruce due a pay-off of around £1.7million should they decide to dispense with his services.

Belgium assistant coach and Arsenal legend Henry, 40, who quit as a Sky pundit for the new season this week, is in his sights.

People rushed to the streets in panic as emergency teams were sent to the affected region, media reported. It said it was very shallow, at a depth of only 6.2 miles, which would have amplified its effect.

Henry left his punditry role at Sky Sports earlier this month as he wants to focus on his managerial career.

"These experiences have only made me more determined to fulfil my long-term ambition to become a football manager", he said.

Henry would be expected to make use of his Arsenal connections, and could well bring in some youngsters on loan.

He won two Premier League titles and two FA Cups during his time with the gunners.

Arsenal legend Henry was lauded as one of the key factors for Belgium's World Cup success as they achieved their best result in history, beating England in the third placed playoff round.
