Amazon Go Expands With Opening of Second Store

She said Amazon anticipates more office workers to use the store and therefore the store focuses more on non-perishable goods such as candies, gum, drinks, and take-away oatmeal snacks.

Way back in July this year, Neowin reported that Amazon would be opening up the second of its Amazon Go checkout-free stores at the Madison Center building in Seattle on 5th Avenue.

Though Amazon's Go store does have employees around to answer questions and ensure the security of customers, they are few and far between, and they don't serve as cashiers. The app then automatically tracks what is picked up and then charges the shopper after they leave the store.

The product mix at the new store is slightly different, however. It won't carry wine and beer like the flagship store, nor will it carry grocery items like milk or bread.

Packers trade QB Brett Hundley to Seahawks for 2019 draft pick
With one move, both the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks have settled their backup quarterback situations. Hundley started nine games for the Packers last season after Aaron Rodgers suffered a broken collarbone.

Amazon expects the store will attract a higher proportion of office workers compared to the initial location, according to Gianna Puerini, the Amazon VP who oversees Amazon Go.

After months of speculation regarding where and when the next Amazon Go store would officially open, the e-Commerce giant has opened its second cashierless convenience store in its hometown of Seattle. Much of the merchandise selection will consist of ready-made or easy-to-make food products, but these items will be produced at another Amazon-owned kitchen elsewhere in Seattle, according to the report.

For starters, it will be roughly 1,450 square feet, which is smaller than the original store's 1,800 square feet floor plan.
