Aston Villa have snatched Hibernian midfielder John McGinn from under Celtic's nose, after they announced his signing for an undisclosed fee on their official website.

One of this summer's most drawn-out transfers was finally concluded yesterday as McGinn signed for Aston Villa's after a fee, with add-ons, was agreed by the clubs.

Shortlisted for PFA Scotland Player of the Year last season, McGinn has also been the subject of three bids from Scottish champions Celtic - all turned down by Hibs.

He helped the club earn promotion back to the Premiership and found his way into the Scotland squad. I've already visited Villa Park and the training ground and the set-up is incredible.

Unseeded Cornet upsets Kerber at Rogers Cup
It marked the second straight time that Cornet prevailed against Kerber after losing their first three matchups. She eventually left the court in a wheelchair, waving to the crowd as it rose to give her a standing ovation.

St Mirren manager Alan Stubbs signed McGinn for Hibernian in 2015 while in charge at Easter Road, and looks set to benefit from that clause.

The 23-year-old Scotland global playmaker leaves Scottish Premiership outfit Hibs after three years at the club, where he scored 16 times in more than 100 outings.

Hibs boss Neil Lennon said: "He goes with everyone's best wishes - he's been absolutely superb on and off the pitch".

"I have not spoken to him on it yet, but as far as I'm aware they are certainly in a really strong position in terms of getting his services". He has developed as a player and an individual in his time here.
